The early stages of this encounter are strangely blurred.  I was standing on a street corner (I remember where) speaking to a person, I don't remember who, a third person approached and said that he was homeless and could we spare some money which we both did.  Then this gentleman wandered by and my now forgotten companion said, "What about him?"  I delved into my pocket and took out four £1 coins and gave them to the man.  His reaction was to look at the money in the palm of his hand, removed two coins and gave them back to me saying "that's too much"

I still feel it was an incredible thing to do by someone who had so little.

A superb portrait, David. It captures the essence of his personality and is further enhanced by the light you caught in his eyes.

Thanks Brent, if asked what I feel about the photograph, I'd also use the word essence.  For sure, this image always come to mind when I pass by that street corner which I do quite frequently.
