Daniel Ortego Posted November 16, 2007 Share #1 Posted November 16, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) Ok, reading the manual and only found a reference to Firmware on page-80. Yes, it’s there but only states that you can view your firmware, yet I was actually looking for the procedure to update. Sure, I can presume to just hook up the USB cable and go the Leica site and download. Unfortunately, I already assumed something earlier and nearly twisted my lens barrel into service. If I missed it in the manual I suppose I read it too fast. Regards,
Advertisement Posted November 16, 2007 Posted November 16, 2007 Hi Daniel Ortego, Take a look here Not so firm on firmware. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
zeitz Posted November 16, 2007 Share #2 Posted November 16, 2007 The instructions are on the Leica Web site where the new firmware is found. An SD card is used.

Silly me to think it was in the manual. Thanks for the help - action closed. Regards,
stunsworth Posted November 16, 2007 Share #4 Posted November 16, 2007 Yes, it's quite bizarre to include the instructions on how to install new firmware with the new firmware itself.
Shootist Posted November 17, 2007 Share #5 Posted November 17, 2007 Steve give Daniel a brake, he's new here. Not even sure if Nikon includes steps for updating firmware in the manual. Daniel to my knowledge there is no camera capable of updating the firmware over the USB port on the camera. All the cameras that I have ever used need to have the firmware loaded on the proper card for that camera, SD/CF/Whatever. And that the firmware had to be in the ROOT directory of the card. It's all very standard stuff. Kind of like updating the BIOS on a computer motherboard. I've updated the firmware on the M8 5 times and only read the instruction one time and they were what I would of done anyway. So now you know. scott kirkpatrick Posted November 17, 2007 Share #6 Posted November 17, 2007 Silly me to think it was in the manual. Thanks for the help - action closed.Regards, When the manual was written they had yet to distribute any firmware upgrades, although the firmware under development got installed somehow. Maybe they thought they would get it right on the first try. scott
sean_reid Posted November 17, 2007 Share #7 Posted November 17, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) Twas a more innocent time but the camera was intended to be firmware upgradeable from the start. Cheers, Sean
