MarcusGVA Posted September 26, 2023 Share #1 Posted September 26, 2023 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hi everyone, I just noticed a slight wobble in my Q3’s aperture ring. It may be no more than a millimeter or so, but I can definitely move it forward and backward. Never had this with my Q2 and Q2M, so wondering if this is normal or acceptable? Anybody else experiencing this? Thanks in advance!
Advertisement Posted September 26, 2023 Posted September 26, 2023 Hi MarcusGVA, Take a look here Very slight wobble in aperture ring Q3. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
hellohithere Posted October 5, 2023 Share #2 Posted October 5, 2023 I am also able to move my aperture ring slightly and was wondering the same thing. My Q2 did not have the movement.
MarcusGVA Posted October 19, 2023 Author Share #3 Posted October 19, 2023 Looks like we're the only two in the entire universe :-))) I'll pop in to the Leica Store on Saturday and ask. Will let you know what they said.
Daniel C.1975 Posted October 20, 2023 Share #4 Posted October 20, 2023 Just compared yesterday my Q2 vs. my Q3: There was no difference. Both aperture rings can be moved slightly in lateral direction. What I realized when packing the Q2 for the new owner was, that the Q2 seems to have a bottom plate of a different material than the Q2. The Q2 clearly has a metal bottom plate, while the Q3 bottom plate looks and feels more plasticy - but that could also be a different coating. As an engineer, I do not bother as I know the advantages of both. Definitely the Q2 is the more elegant camera, still I am very happy that I was able to change to the Q3 and that my Q2 is now with a very capable enthusiast and will be put to great use. I love the use and output of the Q3

David Just looking at the back from a an aesthetic point of view. The back of the camera is just a bit cleaner with the flush screen and the three buttons on the left. All is tidy and neat on its place with a lot of symmetry . The difference is definitely not night and day, but the Q2 does have the slight edge in this department - which is absolutely a matter of taste. This being said, from a using point of view I very much prefer the button layout of the Q3 where I have everything in thumbs reach. Not to mention the flippy screen which already came handy many times.

Hearing your comments, I feel a lot better about spending 2k more for the Q3 that I shall have one day! David

It's a great camera and I don't regret a single Euro I've paid for it (including the ones I've lost selling the Q2 ). Hope you don't need to wait too long. Nayward Posted November 8, 2023 Share #10 Posted November 8, 2023 I have the same issue - slight wobble of aperture ring. Q3, in my experience, has worse build quality compared to Q2...
