Alma (Apple in her dialect of Kazakh) is Shol-Pan's mother.  Shol-Pan was the first female eagle hunter (at age 13) to take up that calling - A calling that about 400 nomadic Kazakh men perform in the Anti Mountains of western Mongolia -- Hunting with golden eagles that they capture as eaglets, train, hunt with for 5 to 7 years, and release after that.  Once released the birds never return, and live about 30 years..  It's a tribute to Alma and her father (I forgot his name) that they supported her decision, and since her father is such a celebrated eagle hunter, the people accepted his decision.  He is also the lead judge in the annual golden eagle festival.

Shol-Pan was overseas touring, and will become a medical doctor.  We see Alma below in her home, being gracious, charming and generous.  I'll show you images of her husband and son before long.

Both are very nice. I trust you and Barbara were honored with cups of their favorite beverage--fermented yak milk.

Thank you.

I think we did, but I'm not certain.  If not there, perhaps in the Gobi,on the Eastern side of the country.

You would definitely remember. A National Geographic photographer who spent a few weeks in Mongolia described fermented yak milk as the most disgusting thing he'd ever put in his mouth. He said the flavor was like drinking vomit.
