It was at one time a huge, majestic tree with a massive canopy. When it became apparent that it was dying, the staff decided rather than cut it down--which is the normal procedure--they would let it go at its own pace untouched. It is named after, Colonel Joseph W. Jackson, an Arboretum founder and crusader for Arboretum fund raising and land acquisition. LX100 II Welcome, dear visitor!
