Well, in my book the bulk is the thing that is wrong with it 😉

I could not agree more; I had this lens and I could not carry it around for an extended period of time and it draws a lot of attention so street photog is challenging, again my opinion.  IMHO, this lens was designed for commercial purposes where traveling weight isn't a consideration.

I am used to carry a SL with a 24-90 as practically my only lens. With a bag which fits only the SL plus 24-90 and my recently acquired Sima 17mm dgdn I am fine. If you consider the apo 35 and 75 mm plus SL the weight is about the same as with only the zoom. I compared the 24-90 to both lenses and concluded that both Apo’s are a bit sharper (at full opening of all lenses) and all lenses are comparable when stopped down. I walked 10-15 kilometres in hilly terrain with the lot without problem. It is what you  are used to.
A SL camera will always be heavy and obtrusive any way you look at it.

I own a SL2, the 24-90 plus some other non Leica lenses (I just recently sold my Leica 90 - 280 because of weight and because I use another lens for tele now) and a Q3. My personal opinion is, that at 28 mm the pictures with the Q 3 are slightly better at 35 mm pair, afterwards the SL2 plus the 24 / 90 is better because of the higher resolution, And for stills, the SL2 has the possibility of HIRES mode, if you use a tripod, which changes things for some purposes like architecture. Advantage of the Q 3 is that the lens has a maximum aperture of 1, 7 wich is very useful in some situations and that it is a lightweight gear. I would take the Q 3 if weight is important and you do not intend  to buy later on a tele or a wide angle lens or a specific macro lens  for a SL2 and have no need for lenses like these. Beside Leica lenses there are many very good and not too expensive lenses from Sigma, Panasonic an soon Samyang for these purposes. I like my Q 3 very much, which I did before m Q 2. But if I must really decide between my SL 2 gear and the Q 3, I would decide for the SL 2 gear.
