gwpics Posted August 30, 2023 Share #1 Posted August 30, 2023 Advertisement (gone after registration) I am not sure where my photography is going at the moment so I am studying the work of Saul Leiter and just liked the way the red of his image was echoed in my curtains and the chair arm - so this is a homage to Saul Leiter! Leica M240 + 35mm Summarit-M f2.5. Available light at 800iso. Gerry Welcome, dear visitor! Shlomo Posted August 30, 2023 Share #2 Posted August 30, 2023 (edited) That's a very nice tribute, Gerry, it looks very cosy. Why didn't you bring me ginger biscuits, darn it! 😅 There is a very wistful film documentary old Saul Leiter, one sentence remains unforgotten for me: "In the village where my family came from there were hundreds of Leiters, but we were the only ones who survived". He was lucky and was born in Pittsburgh, an intuitive, very emotional photographer, completely unacademic - maybe that's why he still touches us today. I have just watched a review of his work on YouTube for about an hour. So modest, so great. Somehow it is impossible to recreate his look using Lightroom and all the plug-ins in the world. I am a great admirer as you may have guessed. Gerry PS - if we ever get to meet I promise there will be ginger biscuits!!!

hepcat Posted September 1, 2023 Share #6 Posted September 1, 2023 Saul Leiter is one of my favorite photographers. Great image, Gerry. Well done.
johnwolf Posted September 1, 2023 Share #7 Posted September 1, 2023 Advertisement (gone after registration) Very nice. Love the texture in the curtain. Leiter shot mostly verticals, and I think the left side of this picture might work that way, too, and become more abstract. I’ve recently been shooting color after decades of BW only, and Leiter has been an inspiration. Along with Harry Gruyaert. John
