M_Driscoll Posted November 15, 2007 Share #1 Posted November 15, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) That's a long title for this thread and I'm sure it actually had nothing to do with being in Salt Lake City. My M8, with a full battery, stopped working today after about 40 shots. It didn't seem to have any power. I took the battery out, waited 30 secs., and put it back in. Still no go. On the plane back to Seattle, about 4 hours later, I turned it on and it worked! The battery showed about 2/3 full. I recently upgraded to the new firmware. Anybody have anything similar happen to them? Thanks for any insight. mdriscoll.zenfolio.com

pascal_meheut Posted November 15, 2007 Share #2 Posted November 15, 2007 Your M8 was blinded by the beauty of Utah. Once in Seattle, the darkness of the sky helped the sensor to heal.

adan Posted November 15, 2007 Share #6 Posted November 15, 2007 I think there must be ghosts of the ancient Fremont culture still haunting Utah - 2 of the 3 times that I've had to pull the battery to clear an M8 lockup occured at Arches Natl. Park, and on the San Rafael Reef a couple of days later (in my case the batterectomies worked). Did get some pix, though...There's powerful juju in those rocks

gtmerideth Posted November 15, 2007 Share #9 Posted November 15, 2007 After a grand day of golf in Utah, we went to imbibe. I ordered a double. The waitress came with two glasses and patiently waited until the first was gone before the second was placed in front of me. Different double than I'm used to. g. M_Driscoll Posted November 16, 2007 Author Share #10 Posted November 16, 2007 Thanks for the insight everybody. This is probably a problem and a solution akin to sacrificing a chicken for your dead computer, spinning clockwise three times, unplugging and plugging it back in, and voila it works. There's good beer in Utah. I'd highly reccomend the 'Polygamy Porter' from the Wasatch Brewing Company. It was sunny in SLC and it's been raining torentially in Seattle. You'd think the battery would short out here. Thanks again. Zenfolio | Matt Driscoll

Unless the humidity is helping make the connection at the battery Just a thought--thanks for the beer tip!

Once back (on/off, take out battery) I pressed the shutter a few times and all at once it was alive again. My thought afterwards was that accidentally I had the on/off knob in between 'C' and 'Timer'. I later am more alert on that. I never had moisture problems, coldness problems. alberti
