Curious if anyone has invested in and tested a USB-C to USB-C cable/power adapter to charge the Q3 in lieu of using Leica's battery charger and cord. Fast charging/charge time isn't a concern but I was hoping to find a way to pack lighter and ditch the bulky and heavier battery charger and cord. I wish Leica would have supplied a USB-C to USB-C cable instead of the USB-C to Lightening cable.

I tested with Car-Adapter and Apple-Quickcharger. Everything works fine. 
The delivered cable is only for data-usage, I believe.

I never removed the battery of my Q3 since first putting it in the camera in may. You‘d want a PD rated powerbank and I prefer to carry a TB3 or TB4 USB-C cable for fast data transfer to my iPad on the go. At home I charge trough a 60W laptop charger.

Curious, what are the ratings for the usb c charging port on the Q3?  I see a lot of different numbers when looking for a reliable fast charge block?  20w, 30w, 65w, then, some have white, orange, blue, or green colored ports on them.  i assume they are all different.  Which one is best, or most reliable?  I have this block already, for iPhone, etc.  I assume it would be safe to use ?

I’ve haven’t used the included Q3 charger since I’ve had the camera. Just using USB-C PD chargers that I already have. The camera supports USB-C PD that charge at either 5v or 9v. It’s not the number of watts that matter, it’s the supported voltage that is important for compatibility. With that said, all USB-C chargers support 5v to be backwards compatible for USB-C adapters the vast majority of USB-C chargers that can charge at 27w and higher should support 9v charging.

For myself, I’ve mainly been using 100w, 150w, and 200w multi-port USB-C PD chargers that charges all my devices, including laptops, tablets, phones, and cameras.

this is in my opinion one of the reasons why the q3 is superior to the q2. charging a camera trough usb-c trough a rechargable and swappable battery pack on the go instead of having to lug around the wallcharger that only serves one purpose doesn't make sense in my book. I can use the powerbank to charge my phone/tablet as well. Only downside I see with this is the wear on the usb-c port door of the camera over time. Hopefully it is sturdy enough to last the life of the camera. I haven't missed a second battery yet.

Really helpful comments all around. Agreed on the potential for wear on the port door. Using a TB4 USB-C cable and charging block (I've tested both the Apple 35W dual port and 140W blocks and both work fine) seems to be the way to go when traveling, especially since I need to travel with those accessories anyways. The Leica wall charger can live and work at home.

For me charging while driving my car made the huge difference compared to the Q/Q2. I plug it into USB-C from my MB V-Class and it charges as it should be 🙂 So when on a trip I stopped thinking about the Q3-battery. It is always full...

Likewise, I appreciate the USB-C charging when traveling, and that was one of the key features (among others) for me in upgrading from the Q2.  I have charged at home several times with a basic cable and 3.0A charger block.  Not sure what the wattage is but nothing heavy duty.

I always keep a power bank in my Q3 bag. But the Leica charger, according to Leica Store SF, also conditions the battery. So I use the Leica charger when possible (at home/office)

I posted about the PBs I use previously on this forum

I now have two of these power banks and both have been working flawlessly for several months. As others have pointed out, you can use it for other purposes too (phone, tablet, etc.)

Definitely more convenient when traveling or out and about than the Leica charger.

in theory? yes. in practice? I'd say no, because Leica probably won't send you the part.

the door has two plastic hinges. my other camera (canon r5) has only one hinge on all it's port doors. the way the door is constructed on the Q3 I'd wager a guess and say it will hold up longer than most original owners will use the camera anyway.

I just bought a new Leica 6 battery from B+H and connected it to a  simple Anker USB power block. I set up USB charging in the camera settings menu and turned the camera off: Now a little green light blinks regularly and slowly on the back of the camera right just below T2 -- just as the brick Leica charger would blink when charging a battery off-line. I am curious how long it will take until the red light comes on instead, indicating that the battery is at 80% and at its first charging run end.

That seems very simple and lightweight; to carry a USB cable and a 1 ounce power source  instead of the Leica charger block + its 120V line cable at around 6 ounces and bulk overall.

I will later try to transfer new image files from the Q3 to the Lightroom LrC 14.1.1 version as well and report how this works via cable. Using a M3 Macbook Pro for all of this.

Charging the new Leica Q3 6 battery took about 2 hours from how it was delivered New  -- with my 2 ounce Anker USB charger and a USB cable and the battery was full.

Same no problem with directly importing new shot images from Camera into LrC via USB cable: all very easy and quick. No worries at all ! The charger that is included with the purchase of a Q3 will be lonely at the back of my bookcase, waiting for work ... Poor critter ...
