This way it won’t move at all after. If you look at the lens, it uses the external threads. No need the lens cap at all… Hope this clarifies. Not sure if yours is the same. I go and clean it up now, never noticed it was that dirty 😳 I have that hood too! But prefer the small, almost vestigial one that also comes with the lens as it is much more compact. Interestingly the CV 50 2.5 Color Skopar uses the same two hoods.

So Rollei obviously got the case from Cosina. Remember when this lens came out, it was often sold with the Rollei 35RF which was a re-badged Bessa R2. The glass part however is a 40mm sonnar, so there is that. Because it was from this era of Cosina Voigtlander build quality, the lens feels a bit loose i.e the focus has a little play, the aperture ring has a little play. Just like all the CV lenses of that era. The CV lenses now feel super tight and higher quality. The Rollei 40 is made from brass, so it is a nice feeling, heavy little nugget. With LTM-M adapter it focuses perfectly on my M10r and all my film Ms. The chrome version is more common than the black. It comes with a tiny spin on lens hood that often is missing. First pics on digital (10r), others on an assortment film (Ektar, HP5, Arista 100, Tmax) Welcome, dear visitor! ocean2059 Posted August 27, 2023 Share #25 Posted August 27, 2023 I was lucky and able to find a good copy of Rollei Sonnar 40/2.8 ltm (silver) pretty quickly. I took the lens out this morning for a walk and I really like it very much. Here are few images from this morning with a M10R. Welcome, dear visitor! alanlwilder Posted May 13, 2024 Share #31 Posted May 13, 2024 I had the same experience as Huss when I purchase the Rollei 40/2.8 Sonnar RF back in the early 2000s , i.e. there was a little bit of play in the focus ring. Sending it off to DAG resolved most but not all of it as its due to excessively wide slot space for the key that moves within the helicoid slot. Some manufacturers take care of this by using thick grease to fill in the space or better ones have keys with expandable widths via an adjustment screw as wear and friction can occur over time.

The one you can see on the initial post in this thread and this one… Mine came with this hood only. Hope it helps a bit.

Thanks There is a little bit more discussion on the 'OLLUX' style hood in this thread; https://www.l-camera-forum.com/topic/418214-rollei-40mm-f28-sonnar-hft-different-hoods-supplied-originally-for-black-vs-silver-chrome-lenses/#comment-5730716 Philip.
Ecar Posted January 27 Share #37 Posted January 27 I think the "ROLLUX" hood is a rebadged Voigtländer LH-2. The latter does fit the Rollei. I have also replied to Philip's thread linked above.

Ecar Posted January 27 Share #39 Posted January 27 Here you go. First with the tiny screw-in hood and 2nd with the LH-2. Sorry for the dreadful phone shots. Welcome, dear visitor!
