Me too. A replaced S2/S2-P/006 sensor is as least likely to corrode as a 007/S3 sensor. No?
Advertisement Posted February 2 Posted February 2 Hi Sarnian, Take a look here Leica S2-P/006 advice please. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
chrismuc Posted February 3 Share #22 Posted February 3 Only the CCDs sensors in S2, S2-P, S006 and S-E use the glass type which will highly probable corrode. No risk with CMOS S007, S3 cameras, Leica finally learned that lesson and used other Schott glass.

3D-Kraft.com Posted February 3 Share #24 Posted February 3 Strange that Leica cannot clearly say for S2/006 cameras with replaced sensor, if it already has the corrosion free filter glass. For the M9 you can get this information from Leica and you also have an option to see it by yourself in a "hidden menu". When the sensor ID is reported as ID15 or ID16, then it has the corrosion free filter glass already.
John McMaster Posted February 3 Share #25 Posted February 3 I had my S2-P sensor replaced in 2016 (I think), it was not fitted with the corrosion free glass.... john
Pieter12 Posted February 3 Share #26 Posted February 3 So the best option would be Kolari, I guess. They pretty much guarantee the glass they use is corrosion-free, but there are caveats to the repair process depending on the condition of the original glass. Not cheap, either. Close to the cost of a second0hand S 006.

As I wrote before in post #12 the sensors replaced before 2016 are prone to corrosion, the sensors replaced in 2016 can be either. The sensors replaced after 2016 are corrosion resistant. If your CCD Leica S is made before 2016, and has not had it's sensor replaced it has a corrosion prone sensor. Edited February 5 by jip
Tirpitz666 Posted February 5 Share #28 Posted February 5 Mine got sensor replaced in December 2016, so crossing my fingers that the late year batches could be already the good ones.. 🙂
