  • Dave in Wales changed the title to SL2-S compatible with Nikon Speedlight SB-27

Unless the SB-27 has a high flash trigger voltage (which I highly doubt) there is nothing that will damage the camera's electronics. Even if the Nikon pin configuration is the same or similar to Leica's, it is highly unlikely that you can use the flash in TTL mode. Only fully manual or automatic modes would be possible.

For the Leica M series Leica has confirmed that the sync electronics are safe to use up to 600V. It is extremely unlikely that the SL  series has a lesser specification. If you want to be 100% sure just ask Leica.

The Nikon SB 27 has a 5V trigger voltage.
Only some ancient flashes and exotic brands have a high trigger voltage.
