Good Day All,

If you are shooting the Q2 Monochrom and use Lightroom or PhotoShop for editing you probably have noticed that the new noise reduction feature doesn't work on only B&W photos.  Perhaps Adobe will change this in the future updates.  In the mean time, is anyone using another application to achieve noise reduction?  How is that working for you?

Thanks,

Both Adobe and DXO use colour information for their AI noise reduction, given the (relatively) low percentage of folk using Monochrom cameras it's probably low on their list of priorities. However, I just ran a file from my newly acquired MM246 through Topaz Denoise AI and it worked OK. Go figure :)

Topaz Denoise AI can work on TIFF files (e.g., by invoking it from Lightroom Classic). Therefore it can be applied to any image generated by any Q camera, including Q2M.

Even Topaz strongly recommends using RAW files, and notes that results are far far better than using a TIFF or JPG. Apologies: In my earlier post I was referring to their RAW AI.

In this case since it's not working properly with the Q2 DNG, and I tried with Photo AI and denoise AI, TIFF does work better ;)

I was amazed the Q2 DNG's didn't work with Topaz, but I normally use DXO Pure Raw 3 when needed.

Unfortunately, Topaz Denoise AI is only available for the Q3, not earlier Qs including the Q2M.

Could you elaborate? I have been using Topaz Denoise AI and Topaz Photo AI since last year on both Q and Q2 DNG files on my M1 Mac. Don't take it personally but Im attaching a screenshot where I loaded a Q2 DNG file in Denoise AI to debunk false claims.

The OP is referring to Q2 Monochrom files.
