Andy6527 Posted August 8, 2023 Share #1 Posted August 8, 2023 Advertisement (gone after registration) I was just comparing a couple of test shots taken side by side, one in RAW and one in JPEG, and when imported into Lightroom, the field of view is quite a bit different. I know that there is software lens correction baked into the RAW file, Lightroom says it under Lens Corrections, but the JPEG seems to be adding even more crop to the image. I know there is a lot of talk about the Q series lens not being a true 28mm, and it does seem quite a bit wider, at leat the RAW files do, but is the JPEG actually cropped to a true 28mm image and the RAW not? FusionX.Photo Posted August 8, 2023 Share #2 Posted August 8, 2023 An interesting point, I’ve noticed that despite Adobe camera raw stating that the correct default lens correction has been automatically applied to RAW files if you click on lens correction it does indeed crop in a bit more. Which Lightroom and which Q (Q, Q2, Q3)? With the latest Lightroom Classic (12.4), there is no difference in FOV between JPEG and DNG generated by Q3. I cannot reproduce the behavior described by @FusionX.Photo. There is no change if I click on Lens Correction > Enable Profile Correction.

It's a Q2 and Lightroom Classic version 12.3 Definitely see a tighter crop on the JPEG. whether I check or uncheck the box to enable lens correction, it does not make any difference, and the only option that would apply under make is built-in, there is no option for Q2. On my Q2 Reporter with Firmware 5.0.0 and Lightroom Classic 12.4 (the latest), I see only slight distortion correction between DNG and L-JPG. The crop is the same. Are you sure you are not looking at the DNG generated by DxO? Checking lens correction on and off in LrC makes no difference.
