It can take decades for a photographer to gradually change their preference from one focal length to another, albeit you can still use other focal lengths along the way. There’s no right or wrong because nobody else see’s through your eyes.

Yup - took me 5 decades to move from 50 to 35 as my most used lens - and then because digital allows me to crop to 50 FOV if needed. Although I use a 21 sometimes (rarely), perspective with ultra wide lenses just looks wrong to me - too unrealistic.

I'm still working on the vice versa track, this year indeed 5 decades, in 1983 was the birth of my photography, was my own camera at least, a Nikon FE with 35 and 100.
