joeq Posted August 7, 2023 Share #1 Posted August 7, 2023 Advertisement (gone after registration) I just purchased a new ZEISS C Biogon T* 35mm f2.8 ZM for my M6 and I can't focus to infinity. Unfortunately, it's my only lens so I don't know if it's issue with the camera, the lens, or the way I attached the lens to the camera. Any thoughts? Thanks! Advertisement Posted August 7, 2023 Posted August 7, 2023 Hi joeq, Take a look here M6 and Zeiss Biogon not focusing to infinity. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
UCProf48 Posted August 7, 2023 Share #2 Posted August 7, 2023 I have the same combination and it focuses fine from infinity down to 0.7 meters.
a.noctilux Posted August 7, 2023 Share #3 Posted August 7, 2023 Do you hear a clic when the lens is fully mounted ? Did you keep the release button pressed ? If no to these questions, have the combo examined by Leica dealer or where you shop.

madNbad Posted August 7, 2023 Share #6 Posted August 7, 2023 Occasionally when mounting the lens it's possible to press the lens release button while mounting the lens causing the lens to remain unmounted. Giving the lens a twist, you will hear a click that indicates the lens is now locked on the mount. Hope this helps. It's a really nice lens, I had one and used it on a M2.
a.noctilux Posted August 7, 2023 Share #7 Posted August 7, 2023 Advertisement (gone after registration) Some new M users, I don't know why, when mounting a lens on M body simply forget to "hear" the clic. And some keep the lens release button pressed while mounting a lens, so the clic when lens locks can not be heard.

The blue dot on the side of lens lines up with the red line next to the lens release button. Leica lenses have red dots in the same place.

Line up the blue dot on the lens with the lens release catch/button and twist until you hear it click. People think they are showing mechanical care by keeping their finger on the lens release button, but don’t, just rotate the lens and let it click into position. I very much doubt the problem is the lens, so I’d question the if the problem is the camera body but ideally you do need another lens to check with. It can all be sorted out though, even with a service, so don’t worry but check with the people you got the body from and the items description. Then don't bother. You are last victim of Leica M rangefinder precision. On the lens you have depth of field scale, if there is one for f/2.8 have a look at the lines and try to turn focus ring, if the "not in focus" in viewfinder RF is within the two limits, it's fine. Take some pictures, then be happy.

a.noctilux Posted August 7, 2023 Share #20 Posted August 7, 2023 Comparing two 1.0/50mm lenses, only Leica M lens has F/1 dof scales. I think for f/2.8 and 35mm lens the dof must be fine.
