Just curious if anyone else has experienced this.  I shoot the M11 as a walk about sometimes (like on vacation).  I leave it on (great battery life).  And sometimes, after it has gone to sleep, I pull it up, press the shutter partway so it will wake up. It shows the EV in the LED and of course then goes to the triangles to show which way to change the exposure to get closer to average (i.e., red dot in the middle).

Sometimes I find myself hunting.  The triangle will show I need more exposure (it’s under exposed from the last setting).  So I turn the shutter dial opening up the exposure, and I turn and turn and it doesn’t register a move towards the dot. Yet I know it wasn’t more than 1-2 stops off.  So, I re-press the shutter part way down and voila, the triangle changes to over-exposed.  Of course, the shot was gone.

I am going to do more testing, and I wonder if part of the problem was the camera wasn’t fully ‘booted up’ from the standby mode so I confused it by turning the shutter dial too quickly.  I still use film and I move the shutter dial sometimes while I’m walking when the light changes just to be ready.  I also know the dial is probably not a mechanical linkage like the film cameras, and I don’t use it in crazy dusty environments, so I guess it is possible some dust worked its way in.  I haven’t shot 30,000 shutter actuations, so I doubt the contacts are worn out.  Seems like a software thing.

I’ll also test using the various meter modes, but was curious if anyone else experienced something similar.
