Tessar. Posted July 17, 2023 Share #1 Posted July 17, 2023 Advertisement (gone after registration) Can anyone advise where I can find information re. posting limits in the forum? My two most recent posts (in the 35mm image topic) haven't displayed the pics I uploaded and in the attachments section of my account details it says the pics haven't displayed or may have been deleted. They are then removed after a short time... The text is posted as normal, without the attachments. I currently have 83 images stored in my profile. They are posted across the various image topics in different sections of the forum. It would be useful to display a link to the posting limits in the error message, or send a message to the member maybe? I want to post more images in the 28mm, 35mm and M Type 240 forums, but can't and need to know why. Maybe I just missed something somewhere?
Advertisement Posted July 17, 2023 Posted July 17, 2023 Hi Tessar., Take a look here Is there a limit to the number of images one can post in topics or store as attachments in their profile?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!

You also get considerably enhanced size limits with Premium Membership.
Tessar. Posted July 17, 2023 Author Share #3 Posted July 17, 2023 I'm considering the paid option but I just found out what's causing this problem. I just changed the jpg compression/quality to make the files <500KB and they uploaded fine. When I look at the thread posting section at the bottom it says Max file size 2.44MB. So I wonder what's going on here - I'm limited to 500KB, is there a reason for that?
Tessar. Posted July 17, 2023 Author Share #4 Posted July 17, 2023 Actually, I just checked and the files are listed in my attachments as being double the size I saved them as on my laptop... strange.

Tessar. Posted July 17, 2023 Author Share #6 Posted July 17, 2023 I think so - I was saving the images with about 80% quality, they were about 900KB in size (2470 on long side), but they must have been registering in the attachments portal as higher than 1MB, I think. I'll do some further testing to prove/disprove this later.

It depends on the number of images the file size limit is per post, not per image.

So, the most recent post I saved at 496KB on my storage (Standard Windows 11 SSD). When I upload it it becomes inflated to 1015KB, so this could be the problem, because I was uploading larger files than this which were getting deleted, but they were below the stated limits. I wonder why the forum file management is doubling the space the file occupies? Larger block size on the virtual disk in the cloud storage maybe? jaapv Posted July 17, 2023 Share #9 Posted July 17, 2023 Are you uploading 8 bits sRGB? what is your workflow for creating the image? Could you Dropbox me a file that misbehaves?
