Telecaster Posted July 13, 2023 Share #1 Posted July 13, 2023 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hello all, when you transfer images with the M11M to the FOTOS app, is the transfer speed of the M11M faster than the regular M11? Quoting this article: https://www.slack.co.uk/leica-m11-monochrom.html : "The M11M currently has the fastest WiFi file transfer to FOTOS v3.2 of any of the Leica cameras". When this article was published the M11 was already available (and the Q3 was not yet announced). So is the M11M really faster than the regular M11? Thanks. Best, Andreas

Best, Andreas May be @jonoslack can verify this, but reading all the specs they share the same wifi protocol which is quite fast compared to previous gens like M10

Telecaster Posted July 14, 2023 Author Share #4 Posted July 14, 2023 Thanks for the response. Makes sense as the specs of the Wifi modules are exactly the same in both cameras. Hope Leica can include the Q3 wifi specs in the M11-P. For me that would be a reason to upgrade from the M11. best, Andreas

I thought they still use the same wifi module too, and it was claimed faster against the previous Q2 but i might be wrong
Photoworks Posted July 14, 2023 Share #6 Posted July 14, 2023 you definitely want to be on the 5GHz wifi to get fast speed. It is faster than the cable with Fotos app 2.4GHz is very slow. But if you want really fast transfer rates you use the Capture one for iPad with USB-C cable.. 5sec per DNG

Telecaster Posted July 14, 2023 Author Share #8 Posted July 14, 2023 The wireless transfer speed I get with my M11 is unacceptable for me even in 5GHz mode. But the 5 secs / DNG of the Q3 sound usable! I am still amazed how camera manufactures struggle to implement a decent wireless connection to the smartphone - 16 years (!!) after the introduction of the iPhone. So let's hope that all new Leica models from here on will be as fast or faster than the Q3. X-ing fingers.
