Louis Posted July 10, 2023 Share #1 Posted July 10, 2023 (edited) Advertisement (gone after registration) I am rarely using flash, but I never was satisfied with using my little flash. I would greatly appreciate if anyone using SF24D on SL2 could share the exact settings on this flash and the exact settings on this camera for this combination. Thanks in advance. Advertisement Posted July 10, 2023 Posted July 10, 2023 Hi Louis, Take a look here SL2 with SF24D. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
jaapv Posted July 11, 2023 Share #2 Posted July 11, 2023 Actually it is extremely straightforward, Louis. The camera will detect the flash and the flash will detect the camera ISO. You can set the balance between ambient light and flash by your exposure controls on the camera (it won’t fire if the shutter speed gets too high) and the +/- buttons on the flash. Personally I find the results with the SF40 much better. The SF24 D appears to be underpowered.
Marc B-C Posted July 11, 2023 Share #3 Posted July 11, 2023 Whilst a Q2 rather than an SL2, I have been disappointed with the flash (SF40) and Q2 combo. Have pretty much given up the flash so would also be interested in any tips (additional to those from @jaapv)

jaapv Posted July 11, 2023 Share #5 Posted July 11, 2023 Are there any that are compatible with the Leica protocol? The SF 40 did not do too badly in a dark, outdoor, on-camera situation: Welcome, dear visitor! Marc B-C Posted July 11, 2023 Share #6 Posted July 11, 2023 Perhaps I just do not like the output of flash. I like natural light with a little fill in but do not seem to be able to achieve that with my SF40/Q2 combo. Apologies to @Louis for the thread distraction.

But I wasn’t doing well in TTL. Now with SL2, I like to know how to set the flash on TTL mode. I am a little confused with buttons and numbers behind SF24D. Besides ON/OFF and TTL, do I have to change any other number. The instructions say it must have the same iso as in the camera, but it only shows ft ! jaapv Posted July 12, 2023 Share #8 Posted July 12, 2023 I’m sure you can change feet to m. The flash should read out the ISO. I’ll try and find mine-it is buried under layers of dust.

Well, this is kind of bizarre, but basically Godox doesn't offer a flash unit compatible with Leica protocol (yet?), but their X-Pro controller does. So in short you can have TTL only when firing off camera flash 🫠
jaapv Posted July 12, 2023 Share #13 Posted July 12, 2023 It has been this way for nearly twenty years, so “yet” is pretty indefinite. Leica on-camera TTL with Leica branded flashes only.

Mostly it will depend on how much units they sell of the X Pro I suppose.
