novelpixels Posted July 10, 2023 Share #1 Posted July 10, 2023 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hi guys, I'm sure I'll run into someone with good experience cleaning their Leica Q2. I'm pretty OCD so I like to keep my camera spotless. However, when cleaning the outlined part of the lens, I couldn't get some very tiny dust particles out there so I decided to use dental floss to try and get rid of in (a hand-held air pump didn't work for me). So my question is, would this have any implications on my Q2? After doing this, I tried taking a test image and everything seems okay. Any thoughts would be appreciated! Cheers. stuny Posted July 10, 2023 Share #2 Posted July 10, 2023 I doubt it would harm anything.
beewee Posted July 10, 2023 Share #3 Posted July 10, 2023 I’d be hesitant to use any thing to clean those groves other than an air blower. You risk pushing dust deeper otherwise. The camera is IP52 rated which means “Ingress of dust is not entirely prevented, but it must not enter in sufficient quantity to interfere with the safe operation of the equipment.” but if you were to start ‘flossing’ your lens, that’s way beyond any normal expected usage and I don’t think Leica designed the camera with this in mind
Phil75 Posted July 10, 2023 Share #4 Posted July 10, 2023 Vacuum cleaner with natural bristle brush. No blower and in particular no thread, that moves only the dust to the inner.
