kiwidad Posted July 10, 2023 Share #1 Â Posted July 10, 2023 Advertisement (gone after registration) I have a clean black MR-4 on which the red on the dial is very dim and looking at the white it may just be very dirty. I dampened a Qtip with a little water and gently tried to clean the 16 number. after a single pass I looked at the Qtip and it had some red on it. My concern here is am I wiping the paint off? If there a way to clean without damaging the paint on the dial? Â Any suggestions would be appreciated

Michael Geschlecht Posted July 10, 2023 Share #2 Â Posted July 10, 2023 (edited) Hello Kiwidad, Welcome to the Forum. Most likely what you took off was part of a non-waterproof red marker touch up. Not a bad idea. After cleaning with a damp (Not wet) Q-tip & letting it dry. I would probably re-do it myself with another non-waterproof red marker which should be available in a children's toy store. If it was bright chrome I would use a permanent red marker & clean up with some acetone. The acetone might damage the finish on a black paint/lacquer finish.
