He confirmed it in his video using science. I personally confirmed it on my Q2. The question is does it really matter?

If your talking about "mathphotographer" when i asked him how he knew the base ISO was 100 he replied that "leica told him" not much science involved from that reply.

I use an olympus OM-1 for my wildlife photography and the speeds below the the base ISO of 200 are clearly marked on the menu as "extended" when/if you dial them in,I just think leica should do the same.

He did all the tests in the video, and he has an amazing relationship with Leica, I doubt they would lie to him.

I do not know why Leica would not tell the "truth."

I asked Leica about ISO 50 with Q2 and SL2. Leica's answer was:

"The native ISO for both cameras is 100, while ISO 50 is created electronically. The final picture is then pushed digitally, and for that reason the clipping is much more visible later."

However, measurements show that ISO 50 is the base ISO as it has more DR than ISO 100.

Bill Claff:

I measured about 65000e- at ISO 50 and 31000e- at ISO 100.
To me this confirms base is ISO 50. You cannot fool photon noise.

Jim Kasson (ISO 100 in Q2M corresponds to ISO 50 in Q2):

- EDR has 2/3 more DR at ISO 100 than at ISO 200.
