JumpStart Posted November 11, 2007 Share #1 Posted November 11, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) I'm interested in learning whether you use a tripod for most of your M8 Photography, or hand hold. So, reply back with some estimate of your tripod in percent. Cheers DBK

johnastovall Posted November 11, 2007 Share #10 Posted November 11, 2007 100% handheld, that's why I love Leicas... I've got a 5D and bunch RRS support gear for when I want to be a beast of burden.
Daniel Ortego Posted November 11, 2007 Share #11 Posted November 11, 2007 M8 or otherwise, I use a tripod for mostly ebay postings. More so now than ever, in order to help off-set the big bucks I've spent on this new damn Leica w/prime lens! Regards,

Shootist Posted November 11, 2007 Share #15 Posted November 11, 2007 About the only time I've used a tripod with the M8 is when I'm testing focus on a lens/camera combo. With the M3 I've used a tripod more, you are set to one specific ASA/ISO. So hand held 99% of the time with the M8.
ChrisC Posted November 12, 2007 Share #16 Posted November 12, 2007 Oh well; out of step again. I use a tripod for 90% of shots. I like the discipline of tripod shooting with landscapes, and being long sited I use a viewing loup to check the histogram and the image. At one stage I was using a black view-camera cloth to examine the screen image. But handheld, I can shoot fast too. ............... Chris
gwelland Posted November 12, 2007 Share #17 Posted November 12, 2007 Like Chris, I'm a tripod shooter for landscape work (60%+) and the remaining mobile shooting is handheld.

Arif Posted November 12, 2007 Share #19 Posted November 12, 2007 100% handheld. If you saw my humungous (not sure if that is an official word) tripod, then you would know how stupid it would look Best wishes, Arif
woodyspedden Posted November 12, 2007 Share #20 Posted November 12, 2007 Handhold almost always. I do have a Leica tabletop tripod which I sometimes use if I need stable shots. I'm with Carsten on this one. At 70 years old and with early stage Parkinsons's disease hand shake is a problem for me. The Leica table top tripod, used as a chest brace, clears almost all of my shake issues. Not pretty but it works. For landscape shots I just put the M8 on my Gitzo 1228 with an Arca Swiss compatible ball head (RRS B55) and all is well! The shot is everything.......how you look is meaningless!
