hdokgst Posted June 25, 2023 Share #1 Posted June 25, 2023 Advertisement (gone after registration) After using my SL2 for some years. I've got a number of user profiles. I find it difficult to keep track of the contents. Is there a way to review or compare the contents of saved user profiles on a PC or on another device (iPad, e.g.) or even edit the saved profiles? In my opinion, the Fotos App would be a place to save the profiles. The app lets me update my firmware but as far as I can tell does not copy/save the profiles. This may have been discussed before. I searched the forum (and also via google outside the forum) but could not find anything helpful. Any hint appreciated - Thanks!
Advertisement Posted June 25, 2023 Posted June 25, 2023 Hi hdokgst, Take a look here Listing / Editing user profiles. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
jaapv Posted June 25, 2023 Share #2 Posted June 25, 2023 On the camera: You can call up the profile, run through the menu, change what needs changing and save the profile.
hdokgst Posted June 25, 2023 Author Share #3 Posted June 25, 2023 Jaap, thank you for responding. Of course, editing the profiles using the camera menus is the is the 'official' way. Nevertheless, I would like to review and especially compare different profiles. When I try to optimize a profile for a new lens or different task, I start with one profile (say 'macro static') and change parameters until I end up with a new profile (say 'macro dynamic'). When I finish this I would like to compare the two profiles and check which parameters I've changed and if these changes are logical. So, being able to just have a list of all parameters for two profiles side-by-side would be helpful (for me!) as also having a list of all parameters that can be changed and kept in the profile. Photoworks Posted June 25, 2023 Share #4 Posted June 25, 2023 No, there is no list, and if you open it text edit you can see that it is just code. You can backup your profile to SD, that is about it. I just to just that to move the profile to multiple cameras. I create a few base profiles, and I change little settings when shooting without saving. Changing just Macro is not very useful in my opinion. stick to basic. hdokgst Posted June 26, 2023 Author Share #5 Posted June 26, 2023 OK - I give up! I've got just one SL2 and use it for many purposes (macro was just an example) and have a number of profiles which I change from time to time and I find it not so easy to keep track. But thanks for your comments.

On the SL2, I can't edit (change)a user profile once it's been set the first time. I have to create a new profile to save any changes that I'd like to add to an already set profile. I've reset the camera about 8 times trying to get this to work. Thoughts?
jaapv Posted July 7, 2023 Share #7 Posted July 7, 2023 Advertisement (gone after registration) If you change the relevant settings and then save as <userx> or your <rename>? That is the way it works on all my other Leicas.
wellfleet Posted July 7, 2023 Share #8 Posted July 7, 2023 I just spoke with Leica NJ and got it sorted out, so it's now working, thanks!
