Well 2 days of testing and I must say I think the Q3 is one amazing camera......

I have a couple events coming up, Q3 in one hand and the SL2S with a SL75 in another.

I need to test it out in the real world.

Curious why not the Leica 16-35 SVE?

Next lens on my list, I had 10 real estate jobs pop out of no where and I needed a 16-35 ASAP. It is a good lens but I want to try the Leica SVE.

It has been getting worse and worse and I'm just gonna leave it. I'm never going to sell this camera, such a work horse.

I wonder if I can have it wrapped in a different material.

As I've mentioned elsewhere, get one of these: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/274866214936

I normally dislike half cases, but this has worked really well for me - and improves the grip in my (not particularly large) hands.  No problems now with finger nails snagging the original "leather" skin.

You should consider the Sigma 14-24/f2.8 Art DG DN. I have both the Sigma and SVE and did some comparisons at 100 MP with multi-shot under controlled conditions, compared wide open and every full stop increment. The two lenses are comparable in sharpness and the Sigma would be more useful for interior real-estate than the SVE. It’s also 1/5th the price of the AVE.

The only reason to choose the SVE over the Sigma are if:

  • You need filters
  • You are shooting backlit subject, in which case the SVE has much better ghosting/flare resistance
  • You need the 24-35mm range without carrying another lens
