Hello group.

Time without posting.

Well i've received a Summaron 35/3.5 ( googled), and i see a very bad thing behind the front element.

I knew the lens needed a maontenance, but..

Heres the picture.

What can it be? separation?, some oil inside that produces this effect?

The overall condition is good, but i need to know if it's a dead card, or it has solution by cleaning the elements after dismantling

Thanks for your opinions!, never see that before.

That does look rather like an interference pattern, and might be from a thin gap from separation or a thin film of something.

My 35 Summicron (Canadian, v2) developed very slight separation around the edges after a short drop to a wood floor, so a knock can cause it with the Canadian Balsam cement used back then. In my case it doesn't seen to affect the image (yet), and the service tech said just leave it as is.

In your case I'd take a variety of pictures and see how it performs before attempting anything.

Hello

i’ve had the lens 3 years ago when I bought to the same seller ( in my city) a Leica M8, and I’ve done some tests, and posted a thread here, with samples

i don’t remember in 2020 if it has the same “rainbow thing”..

That's separation (I had a 35/2 v.4 with a similar problem due to having been dropped although not by me). It might be repairable IF you can find someone able to dismantle it, cement and recentre the lens, but these days such people are few and far between so its a big ask. You also need to find out why the lens has separated. It could be shock or perhaps thermal stress, either way the lens will probably need repair/service. Lens separation does not seem to happen 'spontaneously'!

I have a 28mm f2.8 Elmarit-M  type 3 with similar separation rings. They did not make any noticeable difference to my prints when I used it last year and I have used it this week, film still in the camera. I bought it cheap, boxed with lenshood, knowing it had that problem.
