Make your choice, black or silverchrome adapter.
But be aware that the silverchrome finish on the SL2 is different then the finish of the adapter and on the older chrome lenses!

If I was still 15, the poster on my bedroom wall of Raquel Welch would be coming down - and this would be going up 😂Beautiful!
My favourite lens on my SL2-s is the latest 50mm Summicron-M, so, stunning looks aside, I’m sure you will love using this set-up. Congratulations!

I prefer the black adapter with this combo. *The silver adapter would look great with black lenses on the silver SL2.

I'm interested in photos with this body and lens selection.

@satijntje did ask "Make your choice, black or silverchrome adapter." I am sure photos will come if not here on the SL2 photo thread.

I don't think many buy such a gorgeous special edition camera who are Not interested in "how gorgeous" or showing off their gorgeous. Creativity comes in many different forms 😉

If my SL2-S and Summicron-M are anything to go by, it will be capable of beautiful results.

Nice job on the photos satijntje. It's a tough choice. Your silver beauty does have a different tone and luster. I recall the older silver Leica UV filters made in Germany also look different than the new silver UV mark IIs than are made in Japan. I guess the "official" Leica M-L adapter color for the Silver SL2 is black, since their bundled Noctilux 1.2 comes with that. Gosh, I'm looking hard under a bright light and my silver M-L adapter matches the body really well.

I'll post a photo later of my Silver SL2, Silver 35mm FLE mark I (built in mid-2022), & Silver M-L adapter for kicks.

Chris my 50 Summicron-M V5 was languishing on my Ms because the focus shift at f/4 was too difficult (for me) to work with. I tested it on my Silver SL2, focusing at f/4 and Holy Moly is has come back to life for me. It's nice and sharp center to edge at all apertures. It will be my go to for a 50mm prime on the SL2. Sadly, my silver 50 Summilux Asph mark I doesn't play as well with the SL2 below f/4.

This is a follow-up to the discussion about whether to choose a black, silver, or both colors for the Silver SL-2 & M-L adapter. Here's my Silver SL2, Silver 35mm FLE mark I (built in mid-2022), & Silver M-L adapter. The second closeup photo, magnified to 160%, shows the textures differ between the three silver surfaces. At least to my eyes the silver colors are a good match. I like it 🙂

Photographed outdoors in open shade, Adobe Camera Raw, Cobalt M10-R embedded profile, standard sharpening with texture and clarity sliders flat.

I absolutely agree. My Summicron-M is also v5 and I love the results on the SL2-s. The SL2 sensor obviously provides greater resolution and so to hear that the lens still performs on it is very good news. I know that the SL apo lenses are world beaters but, personally speaking, I bought my SL to continue to enjoy using the smaller, manual, M lenses. Although the SL2-S suits my work, I have to say that the silver SL2 has me drooling. It’s a thing of beauty. If Leica follows the same path with the SL2-S in future, I’ll be all over it. Your silver 35mm FLE/SL2 looks fantastic.

One of the first photos I took with my Silver SL2 & recently acquired (pre-owned) APO-SL 90mm was of our bird bath in the front yard. I posted it on a Facebook birders site that I'm a member of. This AM I was surprised and humbled when the Western Washington Birders administrator asked to use my bird bath photo for this week's group cover photo. I guess it just goes to show super telephotos aren't always needed for bird photography. 😉

I really love the look of this. Is the camera worth it in 2023 with the SL3 perhaps 6-8 months away? Probably not. But I do want it. Especially with my new silver 50/1.4. What a combination.

I am selling my SL2S Reporter in favor of the Silver Classic SL2.  One for the jump in resolution and two I use manual focus Zeiss lens ZM which so happen to be silver.  I know the SL3 is nearing market, but I will be very complete with the 47MP SL2 Silver for a long time.

Well, you can call me crazy Geoff. I pre-ordered a Silver SL2 from B&H this morning. For a crazy man I have plenty of good reasons for doing so. This includes knowledge of the 47MP sensor's performance; the SL2 is proven platform that will not be chock full of bugs like the new models are; a limited 1000 production run with the silver aesthetics that reminds me of my old film cameras of the seventies; and finally, I have a nice collection of M lenses that will have a nice stabilized home for the balance of this year and early next for my trips here and abroad.

Another crazy here, too.  Maybe more crazy than most.  I am selling my SL2S Reporter for the silver SL2.  One, for the jump in resolution, and two, my manual focus Zeiss sm lens are silver as well.  This will be my sweet spot for years to come.

Thanks for the report Sohail. I'm in the States and I've had my silver SL2 pre-ordered since early on the first day available (June 15th) at B&H. Since B&H has the lower tiered status of just an "authorized dealer" I'm prepared to wait while the Leica Boutiques and Stores get their preferred allotment of the 1000 units first. There's a silver SL2 for sale right now on the Fred Miranda Buy & Sell for a few hundred $ over list price but I resisted 😉

Ordered my silver SL2 from B&H 7/31 and it will arrive on 8/2.  No wait time.

I just bought a used SL2-S, giving it preference over the (used as well) SL2 due to the better high ISO performance. But this silver SL2 looks certainly great... since I don't buy new Leicas anyway, I think I'll wait for a nice used silver SL2 to complement my 2-S once the SL3 is out and people are trading up 😉...

It's obviously a very "wide corner" I dont think Leica will have an issue with sales of 1000 silver units. I haven't been influenced by camera looks however paying extra for a SL2S Reporter recently I not only got a great camera but an extremely nice looking camera. For an additional 6% I can say my investment is worth the happiness I get when using this camera.

Agree Ken.  My lenses render just fine with my 24MP Reporter.  Love everything about this camera body.

@goodbokeh and other SL2 silver owners:

Leica just announced a Silver SL2 + 35 Summicron-SL bundle and Silver SL2 + 50 Summicron-SL bundle for not much more than the silver SL2 body was by itself.

If anyone who has purchased the silver SL2 body would find it helpful to have access to that deal, would you join me in emailing Leica to request a voucher be offered to those that bought the silver SL2 body? If so, please email Leica at the email address below:

info [at] leica-camera [.com]

I know Leica does not have to do this, and I'm grateful to have found and purchased the body alone. But it would amazing to be able to pay only another $600 to get the 50 Summicron-SL or $900 more to get the 35 Summicron-SL. The savings are $1,295 on either lens.

I contacted Leica. I did buy the Silver SL2 & 24-70 bundle at the time but I would still be keen to get either of the SL lenses, we'll see.

hdmesa I received an email from Leica this morning. They said no in a nice way. I would have to buy another SL2 with the 35 or 50 ASPH bundled in.

Last year's Summer sales for the Leica SL camera bundles and even separate SL APO lenses were more generous. I remember a super good 1 week Black Friday offering. We'll see what this fall and Christmas season brings. So far the second half 2023 Leica discounts are not as good.

Maybe keep an eye out on the Fred Miranda Buy & Sell for used mint offerings. I saw a (9+) SL 50 ASPH recently there for around $1200. I'd kinda fancy a mint SL 35 ASPH just for that extra close focus, even closer than the APO models. OTOH the SL 90 APO I bought used from the FM B&S is just jaw dropping incredible and I find it hard to take it off. The SL 35 & 50 APOs mint are going for around $3100-3400 there.
