I understand very well that one has "special" ideas and I don't doubt the thoughts either.
Nevertheless, I would like to see 2 completely identical shots, side by side, from the M10 and M10 R. And to make it complete, of course with the same settings and the same lens, an aperture row. A "normal picture, landscape, architecture and no flower pictures
I suspect differences, if any, at most at maximum aperture of the lens.
And then the question remains whether you or others also see the differences.

Thanks for the video. Halfway through, he talks about M10R flaws. I didn't have the problem that the camera freezes.
Exposure differences are due to the different sensors. He was aware of that at Sony, but not at Leica? Something very naïve his approach.
In addition, he should know that the M10R always measures center-weighted without live view, so there must be exposure differences to the M10, which exposes multi!
He said he doesn't use an EVF, so multi exposure doesn't work on the M10R, stupid if you don't know.
In addition, the M10R has a larger exposure range in the highlights than the M10, so the exposure has to be different and the measurement has to be evaluated differently.
  Where nothing has been said about it is the rendering mentioned by the TO. It would be good if he commented on what he understands by that and where exactly the alleged differences.

To show that, I asked for comparison shots of the M10 and M10R

Postscript: His impression of Leica lenses on a Sony is really old hat. Everyone should know that they don't perform as well on a Sony as they do on a Leica.
I get the impression that he has some gaps in his knowledge, and you shouldn't reveal them in a video.

Yeah I don't have any affiliation or strong views on his knowledge or lack thereof.  FWIW, I did prefer the tones of M10 shots in these by side set up he provided, and found the colour differences he pointed out useful.    I think he follows up with a video regarding the metering being different and that he just needed to adjust

All seems a bit click-baity and dramatic tbh, but the above points were what were useful to me .  I was considering pairing an M10-R with M10-D but on consideration I don't use digital enough to change things up within a 2-body set up especially if they meter a bit differently (you are right - "why wouldn't they"). if I buy a second body the M10 is fine for my uses

Is there any risk in it? I'd say less than anywhere else, though not riskless. Except if  you have a dealer you know for 20 years in being reliable and ask him if he has a client who wants this. But even then, you can decide what's reasonable for you.

Couldn't this be duplicated in Lightroom with presets?  

And why not the M10-P?  

Not challenging your premise but rather curious as I see disadvantages of such a trade.   Are you having issues with the M10-R?

Agree.  I started to type a post explaining why I think the guy in the video that @grahamc linked to above is a prat.  But it's Sunday, the sun is out, the sea is flat calm and I'm going for a paddle in my kayak instead.  Seals, dolphin and whales are much more interesting to watch.

I can totally understand the OP's post.  I bought a new M7 back in the day, thinking it would be "better" than my M6.  But I never got on with it and sold it 6-7 months later; I still have the M6.  You like what you like and it is not necessary to justify it to anybody.

M10, M10-P yes I would be happy. I like the files from the 10 over the 10-R, I'm not sure I can always get the same feeling in post.

Thank you Mark. I'm in Bath, UK. The used/trading Leica market is more active in the US it seems to me, I might be wrong.
