Yes, I only really noticed later, I think that the whites of the eyes have been dyed black. The person in the image is the epitome of gentleness, is vegan and brave and has had quite a profound influence in changing my outlook on people who are different to myself. Theodore Zeldin’s book ‘Conversation’ has consolidated my thoughts about the transformative power of photography, well worth a read.
