Will Q2 batteries work in the Q3?

I have several Q2 batteries and wonder if I sell my Q2 and buy the Q3 will the old batteries work in the new camera?

Yes, with reduced battery life and no 8K video (according to Kai on youtube)

I cannot imagine a need for 8k video… and def not from a q3

so I look forward to mixing batteries between the q3 and my 4 sl2 and sl2-s cameras.

Batteries are compatible. One has 1860 mAh and the new one 2200.

That's good news, I've heard that the Q3 battery is less expensive than the Q2's as well.

Robb, see the 32:11 mark of the video discussing 8K post processing. The 4K (from 8K) digital panning of the couple with the stationary Q3 is quite impressive:

I enjoyed the YouTube video, and can NOW understand the benefit of 8k for the panning, cropping etc.  I thought it would be for full frame 8k which I really could not see a need for.

8k is not something I will likely ever need or use, but for the video focused, I am guessing it is a big win.
