Leicanovice Posted November 8, 2023 Share #1123 Posted November 8, 2023 If this helps anyone - I popped into the Leica store in Amsterdam yesterday and they have a few Q3s in stock. It was just a stroke of luck - I am transiting through Amsterdam to NY and staying for a few days. I bought one and canceled my (May 30th) B&H order. Non EU citizens should be able to get a refund on the 21% VAT - ~800 Euros. Anyways, I have been a regular reader/viewer of this forum and hopefully this helps someone. For $600+ savings from B&H via Payboo, I think I can wait. Unless Sony decided to release the RX1R MK3 before that. Oh well, it'll be Leica's lost. As it’s tough to come by, I just put myself on the German Leica Online store notification list. Meanwhile I have been contacted four(!) times via mail that the item is on stock and can be ordered. 1st time: I saw the mail two hours later: Out of stock (of course) 2nd time: 2 Minutes after email reception: Out of stock 3rd time: 4 minutes: Out of stock, again 4th time, today: One minute! colonel Posted November 23, 2023 Share #1133 Posted November 23, 2023 I was informed that one was available for me this month and it has just been delivered yesterday. Very nicely wrapped. Rather then look at stock, why not just put your name down at a Leica or other shop ? I registered on line in the UK Leica website for the waiting list. Everything was done by email when I had been allocated, I paid with a link, and it was shipped directly from Wetzlar. I didn't expect the sharpness of the new sensor to be the same as the old one at the pixel level. It really is outstanding. I have a backorder at B&H, but unlike most of you I didn't place my order until late November and wasn't expecting to receive it any time soon 😞 I used one of those stock monitoring services to get a push notification. Got the notification and had it purchased within probably 30 seconds. I did not get that, though I did purchase using an American Express which prompted a "SafeKey" validation where AMEX (not Leica) emailed me a code that I had to enter on the Leica checkout page to validate the card was not stolen. I've never seen that before. Seems to be some sort of special AMEX integration with whatever the commerce platform Leica uses to decrease fraud. I have to assume that this is what got me through without getting hung up on any sort of manual verification. My iPhone offered to fill the code right inline without even having to switch apps (thank you iOS 16 or 17 feature...) Happy accident I guess 🙂 I always use AMEX for online purchases. I get that second verification requirement via SMS pretty much any time that I use my Amex card on a new vendor.
