Ya, I didn't have time to reply yesterday to some of the comments others posted, but I figured their website notification was more of a programming issue versus B&H trying to be sketchy.  They probably have a program parameter set that automatically updates the website (i.e., "incoming shipment date from supplier" triggers an "Availability <date>" update on the website.  The program may not be sophisticated enough to check for backlog orders. They probably got a number of calls yesterday and did an manual override on the website. (Just my opinion based on years of managing corporate applications - stuff like this happens often). I do know that B&H is really pissed with Leica though about how poorly they estimated demand and their inability to deliver.  NO DENIAL that B&H is in the business of attracting customers and making money, but they have always treated me fairly in the 20+ years I have been buying from them, so I am going to give them the benefit of the doubt. I'm actually more impressed that they updated the website so quickly.

well it was fun while it lasted. Back to expecting this thing in 2024. I'm not believing anything unless I see a tracking number.

I'd give B and H benefit of doubt also. They've always been good to me, with a whole collection of issues over many years.  Thus far, at least.

Although I managed to buy the Q3 already, I'm still in the subscribed in their website for notifications and I got an email from Leica Germany @ 8am CET, saying that the Leica Q3 was available, I checked the website a few minutes later, no refreshing problems and no time out, the Q3 was available for orders.

I'm sure that there were some lucky and happy people today. A couple of hours later, I checked again and the Q3 was sold out again.

Put my name on the wait list at Leica Mayfair, here in the UK, back in June.

Emailed me in July indicating because of the overwhelming demand they were implementing a periodical draw as shipments arrived from Germany. I've been lucky and will be picking mine up from the Mayfair store in London tomorrow (Wednesday Aug 15). Trading my Q2 too.

Congratulations, if you’d be willing to share what dealers are giving for trade-in, I’d be interested to know.

I ordered mine the day after the anouncement at the Leica Store Konstanz. Since we are directly on the boarder to Switzerland, I assume that a lot of swiss buyers ordered it there too since its cheaper in Germany and that added to the backlog as well. They had a long list in July still, but some buyers might have been ordering in several shops and so while being on list number 29 a few weeks ago, I can pick up mine this week, got the call today.

I will not trade in the Q2, my hubby is happy to take her off me.

Has anyone who placed a Q3 order with B&H in JUNE received it yet??

No. In fact I just got an email from them saying that they don't know when the Q3 will be available and that if I want to cancel I can just do so. Obviously this is not very encouraging news.

What day did you order it?  I got a similar "Backorder Status" message, but it read more like 'you're still on the list, we just don't know when we can help you, canceling is an option'.  I ordered June 29th, so I'm trying to gauge how far they have gotten in the fulfillment process.  I assume they got a lot of orders in the 1st week, and then potentially less after that, after all the enthusiasts got their orders in.  I.e., we should hopefully see more orders start to be delivered more frequently once they burned through the first glut of demand. (total assumption and hope)

Yeah I think I got the same email. June 30th.

I'm anticipating a late October delivery at this rate.

I don’t want to be discouraging but they are only up to 12PM May 25th on Pre-Orders. It’s been nearly 3 months and they aren’t even half way through the launch day orders. Plan on next year.

I suppose that's possible at a particular dealer but I put my name on some waiting lists on May 30 (several days after launch) and by the third week of June had 3 different dealers offer me a Q3 that was available. I made a point of finding small Leica dealers from Leica's website (U.S.) and getting on their lists. Everyone has waiting lists but I believe the ratio is better with smaller dealers. They may only get a couple in at a time but they also have only a handful of people on their lists compared to thousands at places like B&H.

It can't hurt to try the same thing I did. I wish you luck!

Put pre-order in at LCE in London including £500 deposit on 9th June. Nothing yet.

Suspect they’re doing quite nicely on the interest of the deposits!

That's out of order taking a deposit on something they know won't be available for a long time.

I got mine from Park, Burgess Hill, you could put an order in with them without a deposit and see who gets you one first ?

@FusionX.Photo makes a good point. I think I forgot to mention in my post that most of the dealers did not ask me for a deposit. There were a couple that wanted them but I didn't do that. And, as mentioned, I got one within a few weeks. Best of luck!

A friend of mine happened to get the Q3 from Leica London Mayfair while he was there on holiday (about a week ago according to him). He said he just walked in and got it on the spot LOL. Today was the first time I held the cam in my hands. Such a remarkable piece of equipment! I didn't get to shoot with it but it looked fantastic with the brass thumb support! sexy!
