BH Photo Leica Q3 page now shows "Expected availability: 7-14 business days". As of my experience, usually their expected availability is pretty accurate.

Adorama has reeled in their expected delivery to 10/23 and if their marketing is to be believed...actually had some free stock available overnight.  My preorder was with B&H so hoping to see some movement in the next few days.  Already received all the accessories I ordered on launch day as well.

This is such good news! I ordered in late June so I guess it's unreasonable to expect it in two weeks lol

I don't trust these people to tell me the turth frankly. But hey, best of luck. Logic would say you should get yours in less than 7 days if what they say is true ;)

yeah I'm not being optimistic lol. I'm almost certain I won't get it in two weeks. People who ordered on launch day still haven't gotten their Q's. I just got a little excited because my trip to Japan is in November and I was hoping to break out the Q3 there and see what it can do!

This changed happened overnight. I personally don’t believe it. I hope it’s true though. If people who ordered on launch day still are on back order how are they going to fill all those up to now and then be only 7-14 days out for new orders? B&H said to me weeks ago they had hundreds of preorders from launch day. That’s just 1 day. How many cameras can Leica ship them realistically? After all when I called Leica they told me we are a small company and can only build so many per day. I guess we’ll find out soon enough.

it's, in all probability, a marketing ploy to lure more orders.

Yep. I contacted B&H just now asking if the 7-14day "availability" meant I should be expecting my Leica soon (knowing full well the answer would be "nope"). I then replied "kinda misleading then to say its 'available' in 7-14 days".  B&H CS's response was "That's just the ETA we got from Leica, I'm not sure why it's on the website since we're still working through backorders. I apologize for that."

Since I had some free time I called B&H to get an update on my order. I got the same response as previous times, we don’t know when your order will be filled etc. So then I said how can that be possible if your website says someone who places an order today will have it in 7-14 days? Then I got the uuummms ummmms well that’s only an estimate and we don’t know when they are coming in. We don’t have any update from Leica but we can request one and email you.
Confirmed B&H is lying to people on their website. I knew it was too good to be true.
My suspicion is that they are trying to make up for the people who cancelled their order by giving people false ETA’s and then play the let’s blame Leica game because they send us 2-3 cameras a week. So it’s their fault.

And now you all know why I don't want to give a shop like this 6000 of my hard earned dollars. The experience leaves a lot to be desired and that is taking it mildly.

Just talked to my dealer: I need to patient :) He found me in the list, which is good, but there are still many before me, which is not so good.

Interestingly, there are people on the list, which are on the list since the 9th May. I have asked how this is possible and he said, that this is maybe some special cases ... I have not asked further.

For me it was important to be sure that I am on the list and someone will call me in due time (had a different experience in the past) . So I lay back and wait.

As usual, they have been very friendly, and very helpful

I was in the London Camera Exchange (LCE) today in London where I know the staff quite well and was told that the company has never had so many pre-orders as it has had for the Q3 across all it's stores and that is with people putting down quite a hefty deposit

I called several small Leica dealers around the U.S. (in other words not B&H or Adorama) and got on their waiting lists. I didn't get on any lists until several days after release. Within 4 weeks I was notified by 3 dealers of an available Q3 for me. They all had waiting lists and I'm sure they all probably only get one or two units at a time but my sense it that the ratio is much better with a smaller dealer. Leica has a list of dealers on their site. I'm not sure what the situation is currently as I got mine in late June but I was surprised and pleased that I only had to wait a few weeks. Finding the black thumb support proved to be difficult but at least I got the camera sooner than expected 😎 YMMV.

Side note: Some stores require a deposit up front. I didn't engage with any of those. I don't know if that increases your chances or not. Leica Store San Francisco and their sister stores in the Bay area did not require deposits but they had a massive waiting list.

B&H has now removed the 7-14 Days availability in their website.

Ya, I didn't have time to reply yesterday to some of the comments others posted, but I figured their website notification was more of a programming issue versus B&H trying to be sketchy.  They probably have a program parameter set that automatically updates the website (i.e., "incoming shipment date from supplier" triggers an "Availability <date>" update on the website.  The program may not be sophisticated enough to check for backlog orders. They probably got a number of calls yesterday and did an manual override on the website. (Just my opinion based on years of managing corporate applications - stuff like this happens often). I do know that B&H is really pissed with Leica though about how poorly they estimated demand and their inability to deliver.  NO DENIAL that B&H is in the business of attracting customers and making money, but they have always treated me fairly in the 20+ years I have been buying from them, so I am going to give them the benefit of the doubt. I'm actually more impressed that they updated the website so quickly.
