James,

Good photos. Berlin is more like London than Wien!

Have they rebuilt the Friedrichstrasse Bahnhof since the wall came down? It use to be a scary place in the 1980s when I used to go to Poznan and Warsaw on that line!

MfG,

David

Yes, the whole area looks completely different now, compared to the 1980s. This train station was the end of my little world, as I grew up in East Berlin. The train station was divided then and I remember it only faintly but without much happy memories.

Got my first Leica on Tuesday. Which I managed to pick up almost brand new (400 photos taken since November 2023) off of eBay for £4,600 instead of the RRP. It’s basically spotless and the unboxing very much felt like the event it should normally be. I’ve had a Canon DSLR (EOS 70D) for about 7 years and this is my first experience of full frame and moving to a more specialist fixed lens approach. Found myself increasingly being out and about without my camera because it’s bulky - so it was reduced to being used only when on holidays. My aim with the Q3 is to have it on me more often and to offer me a new experience and challenge.

Attached a first few test pics taken in my lounge of my other loves - my Gibson guitar,  my Linn record deck and my lovely wife (being suitably excited about my new camera).

Already enjoying browsing this forum and look forward to learning more about the lovely new toy.

Any top tips or advice very much welcomed!

Cheers

James

Welcome, and congratulations on the great price and the three other priceless objects. (I suppose I should counter with photos of my wife, dog, two harpsichord, cello and Thorens TD124, but I wont today.)

Tips: try colour and raw files!

Best,

David

Super photo!

I think it's like Harry Potter: you have to walk towards the rocks and a secret fissure open up between the blue and brown ones! 😃

Welcome go the forum, James.  I look forward to seeing many more of your images and comments.  One question, though:  Which model Gibson?
