Should I trade MP240 and SL for M11 to benefit from latest sensor technology?

For most of the past 10 years I have been working with an M-P240 and an SL, for a mixture of professional theatre and stage work, and personal travel.

I am considering trading both cameras in for a (down payment) on an M11. How significant is the step up in terms of dynamic range and high iso performance. I have read many reviews and technical evaluations, but I’m interested in practical real world experience.

For more context, I do find that for theatre work I sometimes stretch the limits of low light / high iso performance - particularly with the M-P240 - and I do often crop in quite hard to achieve the best framing of key dramatic moments.

Having skipped a generation,I think you are right at that point where you normally would benefit from new sensor technology in the M11. I remember banding and other artefacts when I tried opening up iso 3200 mp 240 files. I am an m11 owner and normally wouldn’t hesitate to say yes. The game changer now though is the new Denoise feature in Lightroom classic. I would suggest trying that first. It could easily save you a quite a bit of cash.

Given the trade-in value of the 240 and SL these days, IMO you'd be better served keeping one and selling the other for a used M10-R or SL2-S, depending on which provided the most use cases.
