Hello

I checked something today when using the 35 mm lens on the SL2.

1) In mode A, with rotation of the upper wheel - is ultimately the exposure time - the overexposure/ underexposure is displayed in the displayed histogram displayed in Liveview without pressing the shutter release.

2) In mode M, when turning the upper wheel - is ultimately the exposure time - the overexposure/ underexposure is not displayed in the displayed histogram in Liveview without pressing the shutter release. I see an overexposure/ underexposure only in the subsequent photo with the corresponding histogram.

Can you understand that?

Why is 2) different from 1)

( I wrote it in German forum but no answer yet, maybe wrong or stupid question?) 😉

Thanks for feedback.

Jochen

In A, the top dial can be set to iso, aperture or exposure compensation, not shutter speed. default is exp comp unless you changed it.

In M, the default for the top dial, I think is shutter speed unless you changed it.

so in the different modes you likely are adjusting 2 different parameters which  could  explain your observations.
You can change these in the menu under custom controls if you like.

Are you also set to auto iso?

@Virob

Thanks for feedback.

in the past I used ISO100 in mode A and M.

Using the top wheel to change exposure compensation +/- (mode A) is changing exposure time.

When use mode A I see the histogram moving left or right +/-.

This was not when I use mode M with aperture or exposure time.

The histogram was fix.

Today I install firmware 5.1.

Earlier there was firmware 4 on my SL2.

Now it work in mode M like mode A.

I wondering that with firmware 4 there was a mistake or a bug?

Sincerly

Jochen

What you call mode A is Aperture Priority so it is logical to change the shutter speed by the dial. If you want the EV compensation on the dial to change the aperture you must set the camera to S that is Shutter Priority. If you want to change both aperture and shutter automatically you must set the camera to P -Program. In general if your dial is st to Exposure Compensation it changes the overall exposure.
