Hi people, after many weeks of consideration I finally made up my mind and got my Leica M-10P Ghost version, ordered from Hodinkee. However, when I received it this morning it turned out that the camera just won’t turn on. It is not a used one but actually a brand new one from Hodinkee website. I tried to charge the battery but it keeps blinking both charging and 80%, but when I put in the battery and the SD card the device simply doesn’t turn on… as I was speculating that maybe it’s the battery’s problem, I put in back onto the charger again but this time it  doesn’t blink ‘80%’. Eventually it takes a few more hours to make it blink again, but it doesn’t seem to get to ‘fully charged’ even after a night’s charging…

Any idea what could be the problem? If this is broken; what can I do?

Dud battery, probably. Contact your dealer or Leica.

Hi thanks for the reply! I’ve never had to deal with repair or return. In this case, should I contact Leica or Hodinkee? I’m in Canada so there are two dealers I can speak to in my city, but not sure if they’re supposed to help, given the camera was bought from Hodinkee not them. For repair or return, do I just send in the stuff and they’ll get it fixed and send back??? Thanks in advance!

I would return the camera.....Don't go down this path. Its new, send it back because it won't turn on!!! No other store is going to help you that you didn't buy it from except for maybe some troubleshooting.

Regardless though, I am 100% sending it back.

The dealer is the first port of call. If it is the battery or the charger those should be replaced. The same if it is the camera. (I don’t think so).

The dealer should just send you a spare battery, I presume. To send beck the whole camera might be a bit difficult considering insurance . . . I would try that way (you send back the defective battery only).

I hope you can resolve the situation easily.
