If Heliar is similar to the Summilux 35mm pre-asph, then I will like Heliar too - especially wide open. Just never had (or tested the Noct. 50 1.2) and I am interested to see if a cheaper 50mm alternative to this lens, is Heliar 50 classic.
01maciel Posted August 20, 2023 Share #23 Posted August 20, 2023 Here's another tip for something I found out today after two years. The weird lens cap, no matter how you put it on the lens, always just fell off again at the simplest touch. Annoying when you're out and about. The cap somehow can't hook into the filter thread. However, if you turn the cap about 180 degrees to the right, it sits firmly.

And there is certainly some 3D pop. A lens with a lot of character. I find the results extremely nice for some use cases. In other non-Leica forums, where sharpness is often used as the sole indicator of a lens' quality, the Heliar would be considered inferior. Softness, especially in BW adds character.... will take it any day over 'too sharp'...

Emtsoh Posted February 22, 2024 Share #27 Posted February 22, 2024 Advertisement (gone after registration) I like the 35 Sum. pre-asph a lot and this one is not far behind. I do not have the 50 Noct. 1.2, however the Heliar reminds me the Noctilux.

MatthiasE Posted December 22, 2024 Share #29 Posted December 22, 2024 Is there anyone using the 50 heliar classic on an analog leica body? How does it render on film? Because I only find digital results of this lens.
