FF3AF Posted April 18, 2023 Share #1 Posted April 18, 2023 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hello there! I'm new to the forum, looking for some advice. I currently shoot a Summilux 11114 on my M10 Mono, but due to financial struggles and because I don't really like the weight of it, I am opting to downgrade to the above mentioned lens. I tend to prefer lenses with a more classic rendering (e.g. Summaron 35 + Summicron Rigid). So my question is: does anybody of you have any experience with the Nokton 50 1.5 LTM? If so, can you recommend this lens in general? How does it compare to the Summilux? Do you have any other suggestion for a budget-friendly fast 50? Thanks in advice! Advertisement Posted April 18, 2023 Posted April 18, 2023 Hi FF3AF, Take a look here Voigtländer Nokton 50 1.5 VM - any experience?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
jaapv Posted April 18, 2023 Share #2 Posted April 18, 2023 Yes. Plenty of threads on the forum. I prefer the lens over the Summilux asph on a Monochrom.
FF3AF Posted April 18, 2023 Author Share #3 Posted April 18, 2023 Thanks for your reply, jaapv. I haven#t been able to find any information about the LTM - version on this forum - maybe I have to try harder Cheers!
FF3AF Posted April 18, 2023 Author Share #4 Posted April 18, 2023 And I have no clue why the headline says VM - I'm pretty sure I typed in LTM. 🫢
jaapv Posted April 18, 2023 Share #5 Posted April 18, 2023 No idea about the LTM version. All I have seen is the newer ones.
jaapv Posted April 18, 2023 Share #6 Posted April 18, 2023 The VM is not expensive - for the slight price difference I would buy it over an LTM and avoid the hassle of an adapter - if you get the wrong one the lens detection will act up. https://jacktaka.com/voigtlander-50mm-f15-ii
spydrxx Posted April 18, 2023 Share #7 Posted April 18, 2023 Advertisement (gone after registration) Unless you also have Barnack bodies, I'd suggest the VM version. I have both Barnack bodies and M bodies, so the LTM version was a no brainer. As JAAP said, there's lots of info about the lens and its rendering and comparisons with contemporary lenses. TomB_tx Posted April 18, 2023 Share #8 Posted April 18, 2023 (edited) I have the ltm version and have used it for many years, It is styled much like the original 50 Summilux of ~1961 (which I also have), but the Nokton is larger and takes 43mm filters. I use it mainly on film, and it gives very good results. When it was a new model some reviewers thought it compared well with the pre-asph Summilux. The newer M models of the lens are more solid mechanically and smaller size. The ltm larger size is perfect for my M5. Welcome, dear visitor! yukosteel Posted April 19, 2023 Share #9 Posted April 19, 2023 I was shooting with almost all versions of CV 50mm F1.5 Nikon S (no RF coupling for Leica), LTM, VM (scalloped focus ring) - all three models have same glass and same rendering. The VM has shorter MFD of 0.7m. Welcome, dear visitor! As registered member you'd see an image here… Simply register for free here – We are always happy to welcome new members! VM II models are smaller - Size is similar to ZM 50mm F1.5 Sonnar. They have a bit enhanced rendering but images still looking classic enough, especially Single Coated version which I prefer over MC.
