In Wisconsin, one can never assume winter is over...until it really is. Two days ago it we had a stretch of four days in the low 80s F. Now, this.

Ha, same here (southern Germany/Austria). It was all green just about two weeks ago, and most of the ski resorts closed due to lack of snow, but since then a huge cold front came in bringing lots of snow in the Alps, they are all white now (and will probably stay like that for at least the next two weeks).

I wonder what the AWOL rate is for troops stationed in North Dakota?

We used to joke that nobody could "go over the hill (AWOL)" since there were no hills to go over.  It's as flat as our dining room table with about as many trees growing on it.  One day Montana blows by, and another Minnesota blows by.  Then there are the snirt storms - Snow and dirt blown in a darker shade of pale blizzard, penetrating any micro-opening.  We did have people volunteer for Vietnam to get away from the weather and our much-feared wing commander.
