SL2-S + Summilux-SL 50 @f/1.4. Slight crop.
You'll be glad to hear this is from a play rehearsal.

SL2-S and Summilux-L 50, all at f/1.4.
The subjects are all actors in Martin McDonagh's play 'Hangmen', about the second most famous hangman in Britain on the day that hanging is abolished. We adjourned the rehearsal to a complaisant local pub for some in-character shots.
The colour shots were actually quite good in themselves, but, for the period, they had to be in B&W.

`Great pics!

Superb shots, thanks for sharing. Were you able to work the available light or did you have to add your own?

Thanks, John. They were all available light. I had it set to AutoISO, and they are all in the 100-800 range. F/1.4 helps, of course, but I used that mainly to isolate the subjects. Even in colour the isolation worked well.

Very impressive. Good BW conversions too.

I have a confession: I just use the Adobe LR preset 'B&W Punch'!

After a few hours processing several hundred images for noise, cropping, colour balance, and local adjustments, I lack the enthusiasm for B&W tinkering.

I just happen to find this pair of images I captured last year with SL (601). First one is SL-Summilux 50mm ASPH and the second is Sigma DG DN 50/1.4. I had the Summilux on loan but the famed Summilux did not inspired me to use it as much as I have hoped having experience with the ASPH M Summilux 50 on film Leica M body years ago.

It seems that my impression is in line with the opinion shared here by many. I think the lens requires more thoughtful approach by the photographer to take full advantage of its superior technical specification and transform it into equally superior image (unlike for example Canon RF 50/1.2 which will morph almost anything into interesting rendering). Maybe I will borrow this lens one more time to draw final conclusion and perhaps compare it to the new Sigma 50/1.2 DG DN.
