stuny Posted August 21, 2006 Share #1 Posted August 21, 2006 Advertisement (gone after registration) Saturday was another of those days in New York in which we walked rather large distances (13 miles in total). As we headed back downtown from an uptown museum and a midtown matinee we saw that vintage police and emergency vehicles, and hundreds of motorcycles were exiting the Holland Tunnel, aon their way to some sort of meet. They ll headed towards the Westside Highway, and then went south. Ahead of them (in the river) where they turned was on of the FDNY fireboat spraying in celebration of the even, and wheon the highway, blocking traffic sothat they could proceed (15 minute long to go by at speed) was a vintage pumper. I’ve attached photos of both below. Again, the tiny FX01.

jmr Posted August 21, 2006 Share #2 Posted August 21, 2006 Stuart, good, opportunistic shots. I'm hoping for some from my C-Lux. The second shot is nicely composed, I'm guessing from the visible colour artefacts that it's a crop from a larger image?
stuny Posted August 21, 2006 Author Share #3 Posted August 21, 2006 John - thank you. Sharp eye, and almost correct. The fireboat was a bit too far away for the composition I had in mind so I cropped, and I suspect that this is the major contributor. However, I think that some of the color "artifacts" might be prismatic from the water droplets, and some might be due to reducing the image size for the Forum.
