Can someone tell me why when using the Sigma l mount 35mm f2 on the sl2s, there is only A and M modes available and I cannot access the leica default mode?

Move the aperture ring to A to access the P and S modes.

As long as the aperture is determined by the aperture ring on the lens (non-A position), the P and S modes are impossible.

It’s different when the lens is used on an FP - but as the aperture ring is fully functional on the SL2 I expect that’s a conscious design choice rather than an incompatibility.
