fotografr Posted March 29, 2023 Share #1 Posted March 29, 2023 (edited) Advertisement (gone after registration) I was out walking around the neighborhood in Palm Springs and this crow followed me for about 15 minutes. He was probably looking for a handout, but I thought maybe he just wanted me to photograph him, so I obliged. Right after I did he flew off. Q2M Welcome, dear visitor! stuny Posted March 30, 2023 Share #2 Posted March 30, 2023 Lovely. I see you got his better side. Crows (and their close cousins, ravens) are the smartest of the birds. Crows can recognize individual humans, remember them, and share their knowledge about them with their kind. The first time I read of it was in an issue of Smithsonian Magazine. The article gave extensive details of testing with crows, including wearing a Full face Cheyney mask, and being aggressive towards the birds. The birds taught other birds to harass the [person wearing the Cheney mask. On the other hand, if you're kind to a crow, it will tell its colleagues, and you'll see more and more of them.

I've seen crows do things that just amazed me and which indicated taking coordinated actions that involved communication and cooperation with other crows.
