Well I finally found a "mint" Leica SL2 for $5400 Canadian dollars. Paired with my existing 24-90 VE it is fabulous! Thanks to all the fine folks on this forum who offered their thoughts on my dilemma. I am using my L Mount lenses on the SL2 and keeping my SL (601) with my M and R lenses. I think I have it covered!

Also one thing that was a deciding factor for me : Leica, with the SL APO lenses, used one rule that is used on very high end top tier cinema lenses ( ie, costing more than 25k each ) : each lenses glass is the same.

that means the lens color cast is the same across ALL sl apo's : you switch lenses and the color cast / science of each lens is the same.

this is brilliant when you mix lenses.

maybe not much for some people but for me, was a killer thing

Hasselblad achieve this to a higher standard using their colour science. They may share the same sensor as the Fujis but in the Hasselblad each camera is hand calibrated for each lens, including HC lenses, so you really do get a proper colour balance as you change glass. This is why the X1D cameras took so long to boot up. They were loading half a gig of calibration data on startup. The X2D is faster because that data is now stored in ROM and always available.
