that's one frame ?

Did the camera or the DMR get wet ? with salt water ?

if not i would say the sensor is shot.

either way this needs to go in for repair.....perhaps consider one of the 4 on ebay right now

Well obviously I was near the water on a pier. This is only one frame when I first came out .....the next 30 or so frames are fine. The problem I have been having for about six months ..is that the battery rests under the heal of my right hand..if I hold the camera in one hand with a long lens (so the hand has a load on it) ..when I squeeze the battery seems to push in ...the camera turns off . I was having trouble with the camera turning off on me at the time this occured. Maybe they aren t related . Do you have any basis for you observation about the sensor? Would be interested if anyone has seen something like this before their sensor died?

I think I found it. Slightly pushing th battery in.....caused the DMR to turn off. I believe this caused the DMR to be turned off while a series of images were be written to the card. One nice thing about the DMR is that it comes apart so easily. The battery contacts needed cleaning...used the old light rub with an eraser ..wipe clean ....no more battery problems . Hopefully that its ..I also changed out the card and the battery . Still would be interested if anyone has had an actual sensor go out on a DMR .

my reference to the sensor was related to the heavy purple cast..... on the Digilux 2 the purple cast seems to be an indicator of the sensor failing..

do you think the puple cast is related to the battery problem ?

Thanks to all that replied..as noted above cleaning the battery compartment and contacts seems to have remedied the battery cutting out . I can no longer get it to fail by pushing on it. Couple hundred images all good so far . If it happens again I guess I will have to start looking for a replacement .. It sure is a strange composite image .
