marknorton Posted November 3, 2007 Share #2 Posted November 3, 2007 I've just posted on your original thread... Us M8 users do frequent the Digital Forum, mainly to see what's (not) happening in R10 land and ponder the future of 4/3, if there is one.

innerimager Posted November 3, 2007 Share #5 Posted November 3, 2007 ditto to above. A joy to use, light and compact, extremely high keeper rate for focus at all apertures, pleasing color and contrast. A "money" lens....Peter
photolandscape Posted November 3, 2007 Share #6 Posted November 3, 2007 A great lens by any measure. The latest model shows up on eBay and other places often and is very reasonably priced in relation to buying it new--should be able to get one near mint with box etc. for $850-$950 I would think. I use it alot--on the M8 it translates to 120mm focal length, and you can do some work with it.
Shootist Posted November 3, 2007 Share #7 Posted November 3, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) I don't have the newest version but I do have 2 of the Tele-Elmarit (thin) 90's and they do the job.
cbretteville Posted November 3, 2007 Share #8 Posted November 3, 2007 Get one before they're retired and the price goes up. - Carl
garygsandhu Posted November 4, 2007 Share #9 Posted November 4, 2007 I compared it with my 90 summicron asph, and found the elmarit-m to have backlash. Otherwise, noticeable difference only with a tripod (asph better).
woodyspedden Posted November 4, 2007 Share #10 Posted November 4, 2007 I compared it with my 90 summicron asph, and found the elmarit-m to have backlash. Otherwise, noticeable difference only with a tripod (asph better). My experience is the elmarit is a wonderful lens but the cron is just better, period. Love the weight of the elmarit but love more the IQ of the cron! I know, I know, the M series should be partnered with small lightweight lenses but...........can't we have it all? Guess not Woody Spedden
norbertnl Posted November 4, 2007 Share #11 Posted November 4, 2007 Elmarit 90 = underestimated lens on the market. If you can get one for a reasonable price, don't hesitate! Best, Norbert

I don't really look at lenses there often and the latest version 90's that I saw at dealers were about $1200. I guess being a bit wimpy about buying lenses on ebay has a price. One Pic A Day Posted November 4, 2007 Share #13 Posted November 4, 2007 bought mine mint on ebay for a very reasonable price, and never regretted it. it is an excellent, lightweight, and easy to use lens, and compared to other tele lenses it is sooooo small...
