Hello Forumisti ,

before you might call me names : I already bear them all.

No kidding :

I am looking for help.

The reason is a neighbourhood project to help clear an overstuffed household from nearly pathetic collectors dimension  ( or call it ebay-fever . . . ) .

There is a fairly large numer of cameras , lenses and other photographic accessories , not little models Made in USSR , or “ RoBoT “ of Germany or , to close the circle , two “ Leica D.P.R. “  .

Of course the activity for the neighbourhood is expected to return some cash to the “ survivors “  ,

but , at least , I would like to understand what I am talking about.

The attached six photographs carry the body , a serial number plus the lens attached.

I was trying to consult the Leica Family Tree , showing some clues but :

what gets me in both cases are the apparent connectors for a flah device  -  no such trace in the positions mentioned ; of course there is information as per the identification / manufacturer number , but Leica‘s history including the production of non-german made copies is a colourful one.

Perhaps someone in the community here can be of assistance ?

Thank you very much and best regards

and please : no offenece , thx.

Paul

Don’t worry about the flash contacts. Those were often added later. We don’t do valuations but it is worth taking these to a Leica dealer for advice. Don’t expect a vast sum  of money, but the Leicas and even some copies do have a value. As you are in Germany, our German members can advise you where to go if they know the area where you live. Use the German section of the forum.

The body is, by any evidence, a legitimate Leica IIIb of 1939 - with a Summar 5cm of the same time around (s/n dates to 1938, but is quite possible that the camera was sold originally equipped with that lens) : both not rare but anyway with a value and, as above said, the little modification for flash sync isn't a problem.  You can find several on ebay, to have an idea of current evaluations.

That Summar looks pretty clean The body appears to be in good cosmetic shape as well, but I have my doubts about the gap under the shutterspeed wheel.

I think that some Robot cameras are quite collectable (with some but no great value)

D.R.P. isn't a model, by the way, it's just a German patent mark found on many items:

https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q35639987

As above, this one is an authentic IIIb with third party flash sync added. As well as the Summar, it looks like you have a Soviet Jupiter-3.

If you wind the film advance, does the shutter speed indicator align with 1000? The dial is a bit higher at that setting. If you change it to another setting when the shutter is wound, the dial should drop down a bit (though I also wonder if it's sitting a bit high even for 1/1000).

You mentioned another Leica, is that the camera with the Jupiter-3?
