Hi everyone. I realized about a week into owning my M8 that Leica will furnish two IR filters at no additional cost to help with the black cloth problem. If you had the same situation, how long after you ordered them did you receive them? Also, do these filters affect the f-stop at all? I have a 2.8 21mm lens, and a 2.0 50 mm lens...wondering if the aperture is affected by using the filters. Thank you in advance!

It depends in part on what size filters you request, but some of the more popular sizes (like the 39mm) are being sent out quite quickly as of late. I got mine in about two weeks after registering.

Check out this recent post in the M8 forum for more details:

good luck!

My filters took months, but I hear it is faster now. There is no effect on the f-stop, the filter only eliminates radiation which is outside the visible spectrum.

The colour balance is much better with the filter too, not just the synthetic blacks.

Have fun,

Frank

:) :) :) No worries...Use "Dng" philosophy... process in "CAPTURE ONE"... "save" in "PHOTOSHOP" as TIFS...and end up with some amazing files...One more thing: Let the "RF" exotic way of focusing keep BOTH of your eyes WIDE OPEN... LITERALLY...

ALL LEICA USERS...try to shoot with both of your eyes open... i know its sounds weird...but if you tried it then you will see what am i talking about...

Peace.

Hi Arthur, it took about 6 weeks, 4 weeks for one and an additional 2 weeks for the other. They couriered both to me in Malaysia where I'm shooting at the moment. They do not affect the f-stop at all, as far as I can tell (they outght not too either). Good luck w it, Jothiratnam
